Terri has always had a love for many different styles of music. She has had a diverse musical background: her parents were musicians and she was exposed to bluegrass and country music from a young age. Terri grew up playing a variety of instruments, studying classical violin, (as well as guitar, string bass, and piano) and classical voice in college. In high school she listened to rock ‘n roll and disco; in college she listened to reggae and ska. In 1987, she moved to New York City and listened to everything from Madonna to punk and rap. But it was when she moved to Los Angeles that she really found her greatest love: Blues and R&B.
Because of all of her musical interests, she has written songs in many different styles – everything from country to jazz, R&B, and blues. She currently considers herself an Adult Contemporary songwriter, writing strong melodies, rich chords, and a definite groove. She has released three CDs of original compositions.
In 2000, Terri’s band, Terri and The T-Bones, released a rockin’ Texas blues CD titled, 99 Miles. The songs were co-written by Terri and the band’s guitarists, Daniel Gilbert and Robert Calva. The CD received numerous positive reviews worldwide.
After spending several years in LA writing with a variety of songwriters, she decided to pursue songwriting on a serious level and moved to Nashville in 2006. Music City has a rich culture of music, embracing many different musical styles in addition to country music. Terri tried her hand at writing anything and everything, and attended weekly songwriting critique sessions in which songwriters play their songs and provide positive critique for other songwriters. Her CD, As I Am, released in 2008, was actually a collection of several of Terri’s song demos, and displays her musical diversity as a songwriter of jazz, blues, and country.
Terri continues to write and hopes to release another CD within the next year. Terri is a voting member of the Recording Academy and currently resides in Orlando, Florida.
